Project in Uganda

Through camps and playgrounds we give children in Uganda back their childhood and sow seeds of grace in their hearts through the Gospel.

The right to a childhood

Every child has the right to a childhood, but for children living in countries like Uganda, harsh circumstances often take this right away.

The seed of God’s love can be sown in a child’s heart through simple things — even through a hug. Many of these children have never felt such love. You can become God’s loving hands for them.

What the mission changed in us

Reflections from our team after the trip to Uganda.

  • A young man in a black cap holds a child in a pink hat on his shoulder

«Children and young people in Uganda know how to rejoice and share what they have, even when they have very little.»

I thank God for what I have. Now I understand that not everyone can afford a soft bed, two meals a day or a new T-shirt.

The children and young people we met are very talented. They need education, a good upbringing and someone to help them grow. They praise God for what they have instead of complaining about what they lack.

Coming back to everyday life after the trip is always hard. The children, young people and families we met stay in your heart forever, even if you never see them again.

«Sometimes we receive more from those we want to serve.»

I realised this back home, when I had time to think it all through. In Uganda you cannot stay indifferent: after what you see, you grow more grateful to God for a happy childhood and for ordinary things like a bed or bed linen.

I saw that people can be happy without lots of money or branded things. To live, to be healthy and to have enough to eat is already great happiness for some. Some of them became an example of wisdom and inspiration for me.

I received more than I could give. This trip changed and enriched me and my spiritual life, gave me many new friends and inspired me to serve others even more.

«I feel that God made no mistake in letting me serve on this mission.»

The mission helped me open my eyes again and see the world in a new way. Meeting another culture makes you rethink your own beliefs and values, and meeting people who live in hard conditions helps you see the blessings in your own life.

The reality in Uganda turned out to be different from what we knew. For many, life here is a daily struggle for the bare necessities. Children grow up in harsh conditions and learn early on to endure and not give up.

This trip taught me to trust God more deeply in hardship and to live by the words “Love your neighbour as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). I am very grateful to Him for this important and in some ways difficult experience.
